Community Support & Scholarships
In addition to its community philosophy, the Labrador Shrimp Company, has a long-standing commitment to the communities in which they operate. As the LFUSC has expanded over the years, so too has its community support. Through donations, sponsorships, and an annual scholarship program, the Labrador Shrimp Company is a significant contributor to the community.

Labrador Shrimp Company's community support strategy recognizes the role of the company as a key player in the economic sustainability of the Southern Labrador region. LFUSC has contributed to a variety of individuals, community groups, teams, community and regional events and regional economic initiatives. The Company has always aimed to be supportive in ways that are most relevant to local communities.

In 1984, the Bank of Montreal decided to close its operations in the region. Local groups and residents took action and decided to establish a credit union. LFUSC became one of the founding supporters of this credit union by providing the initial investment to enable startup operations. Today, the Eagle River Credit Union is one of Canada's most successful credit unions with seven branches and more than $95,000,000 in assets.
